The Maryknoll Deaf Development Programme has worked together with Epic Arts, a UK-based service organization, for many years. Epic Arts has taken an interest in the deaf people in Kampot where most of their operations are based, and they have allowed DDP to use a floor of their coffee house for activities and have hired deaf staff and run training programs for deaf young people. Expanding beyond their coffee house and cafe, they have erected a performing arts center and today they dedicated a new building on the grounds of the center in which they will provide programs especially for children with intellectual disabilities. Six of the Phnom Penh staff of the Deaf Development Programme traveled to Kampot today for the opening of this building. |
